Millions of people worldwide are bound up with Twitter and celebrities are not an exception in this respect. Musicians, sportsmen, politicians are all obsessed with Twitter. Recently I have noticed a growing trend for popular people to sign up there in order to be closer to their fans or simply to those who want to follow them.

When I came across the list of the people who have the most followers on Twitter I have come to a very interesting conclusion that celebrities are beyond compare as far as the followers are concerned. It is beyond doubt that these celebrities provide ardent support to Twitter as they bring with it thousands of fans who are ready to register on Twitter only for following their idols’ updates. These are people who are not in the least interested in Twitter itself. This fact has brought about another problem for Twitter. A lot of people register there using the name of a certain celebrity so as to get a great deal of followers. Nevertheless this problem was solved by Twitter quicker than anyone could expect. They have introduced their own verified accounts system to show on screen verification of which profiles are real. It is noteworthy that when celebrities are asked about their purpose for signing up on Twitter they give the same ‘witty’ answer, “ To be close to the fans”. However this doesn’t necessarily mean that if you follow a celebrity the latter will follow you by all means. In all likelihood it will be the vice versa. You will simply follow his updates keeping track of the information provided. A lot of people enjoy it, as the celebrities tweet not only about their career but also about personal life, besides, fans can get the information wanted directly from their favourite celebrity.

However some group of Twitter users want the celebrities to follow them back. So a question arises here, “How to get a celebrity to follow you”. 1. Google AdWords’ keyword tool is your first friend for finding most popular keywords to your website/blog. Before you will choose the specific phrases or key words you need to find out the ones that are more commonly used by users while looking for content like yours
2. As you have decided the first step, now you need to use key words and phrases in the HTML title tags.
3. Write a meta description tag for each page
4. Use the right style, just switching from AP style to SEO style. Have more SEO friendly blog/website
5. Use keywords and phrases in your URLs whenever possible. Use your secondary keywords in subtitles
6. Use your keywords as anchor text when linking internally
7. Use press releases wisely
8. Optimize your 404 page and always be found
9. Get serious about Linking:

A.) Find the highest page rank sites linking to your site AND your competitors' sites

B.) Run monthly link campaigns and snatch up the best of the above identified Web sites
